Valborg is a traditional Swedish event, held on the 30th April, which celebrates the arrival of spring. Big bonfires are lit, both to ward off evil winter spirits but also to mark the start of something new (ie people clear out all their old junk and burn it, so as to make a fresh start now that spring is here). I went to see what was happening at the University, which tends to have Umeås biggest Valborg event, and found some interesting things to look at, such as radio controlled cars, a home made submarine and a fire show ...
