Folkrace (Banger racing in England) is quite popular in Sweden, and has some interesting rules. The competitors must complete a certain number of laps around the dirt course, and on one lap they have to take an "extension" to the circuit, (ie take a slightly longer route around an extra set of tyres) and they can choose on which lap they wish to do it. At the end of the day, if someone bids for a certain car, the owner is obliged to sell it ... As I understand it, the cars that can compete in Folkrace are quite limited in terms of engine capacity and effect. However that doesn't stop them from making short work of the course!
